EasyGolf Learn: Golf Rules

Last updated: 30 October 2026

EasyGolf Learn: Golf Rules ("the app") is a golf rules app made by EasyGolf ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the app uses, where it goes and how you control it. In short: the app has no account, no advertising and no tracking. Most app data stays on your phone. If you use Ask Coach, the app sends your question, recent messages and the supporting information listed below to EasyGolf's server so Coach can answer.

What stays on your phone

The app keeps the following only in its own storage on your device:

  • cards you save and cards you viewed recently;
  • your language and appearance settings;
  • your Practice progress (lessons done, streak, best test score);
  • ruling notes, including any photo you add from your gallery (the app copies the photo you pick; it cannot see your other photos);
  • your Ask Coach chat history;
  • a random install ID used for Ask Coach's daily limit (see below).

This data is stored locally. If you use Ask Coach, some of it is also sent to our server as described below. You can delete it at any time: clear the chat in Ask Coach, delete notes or saved cards in the app, or clear the app's storage or uninstall the app to remove its local data. This does not delete the usage records on our server described below, which are kept for 30 days. If Android backup is turned on for your Google account, Android may include this data in your device backup, under Google's control.

Ask Coach

Ask Coach is optional. When you send a question, the app sends to EasyGolf's server:

  • your question, and up to six earlier messages of the same chat so Coach can follow the conversation;
  • the rule card you came from, if you opened Coach from a card;
  • the app's language, the app version and the platform (Android);
  • the random install ID. It is created on your phone, is not linked to your name or any account, and is gone when you uninstall the app.

Our server passes your question and the earlier messages to Claude, an AI service of Anthropic (United States), which writes the answer. Phone numbers and email addresses are masked before that. The install ID, your IP address and other details are not sent to Anthropic.

We do not store your questions or Coach's answers on our server. To enforce the daily question limit and prevent abuse, our server keeps only counts: the time, the result, the app version, platform and language, and a keyed, salted hash of the install ID and of the IP address that changes every day, so it cannot be followed from one day to the next. These records are deleted after 30 days. Like any website, our hosting provider's web server may log IP addresses for security and operations.

Answers are automatic and can be wrong. They are not a ruling: in a competition, the Committee decides. Please do not type personal information into your questions.

In a future version the app may also send an app integrity token from Google Play (Play Integrity) with each question, so our server can check that requests come from the genuine app. That token does not identify you.

Rule content updates

The app works offline with the rules content built in. From time to time it may download newer content from our content server. These downloads contain no information about you; as with any download, the server sees your IP address.

Things you choose to do

  • Report a problem opens your email app with a message to us. We receive only what you decide to send, and use it to answer you and fix the content.
  • Share a card or a ruling note uses Android's share sheet; the content goes only to the app or person you pick.
  • Links to the official Rules of Golf (randa.org) and to EasyGolf open in your browser. Those websites have their own privacy policies.

What we do not do

  • No account, sign-in, name, email or phone number is required.
  • The app has no advertising and no analytics or tracking tools, and we do not sell data.
  • The app does not use your location, contacts, camera or microphone.
